Dr. Draughn is a General, Laparoscopic, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgeon. He completed medical school at the University of Mississippi 1987, internship at University of Kentucky 1988, and residency at Louisiana State University-Shreveport 1993. He certified with the American Board of Surgery 1994 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Southeastern Surgical Congress. He served as vice president and president of the Gaston County Medical Society.

Publications include Sustained Pulmonary Hypertension in Critically ill Surgical Patients(PDF - 9.5MB) and The Natural History of Venous Repair for Trauma(PDF - 10.8MB). Dr. Draughn practices with DRAUGHN SURGICAL CLINIC, and maintains active surgical privileges with Gaston Memorial Hospital, a part of the CaroMont Healthcare System. He also maintains licensure in his home state of Mississippi and his wife's home state of Kentucky.

Dr. Draughn is President of D. Gardner, Incorporated, a company he founded to create innovative products improving efficiency in the Operating Room, Hospital, and Physician's office including the "Lap-Rack®", "Inject-aid^TM", "Funnel Port^TM" and "CBL^TM".
